Guiding with Compassion

Are you or a loved one navigating overwhelming changes, grief and painful losses? Life transitions—both large and small—impact our daily lives and can leave us with sometimes conflicting feelings like anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness, inadequacy, and uncertainty that prohibit us from being our true selves and may even create barriers in our relationships. As your counselor, I have experience working with individuals who are grieving the loss of loved ones ranging from miscarriage, child loss, partner, animal companions, as well as the challenges that accompany caring for a parent and loved one until their passing. I will listen and support you on your journey as you navigate significant life changes and what it means to live life on your terms. My counseling is holistic and takes into consideration you as a whole person. You will find that my style is warm, inviting, and earnest. My goal is to build rapport with you as we collaborate to help you identify the tools and coping skills you need to move through life’s important moments. I hope to work with you so that you can create a life that is filled with acceptance, meaning, and joy. My holistic, person-centered approach to counseling is designed to guide you to be your own advocate through life’s demands. Our lives are constantly evolving, and I look forward to the opportunity to accompany you on your journey. I earned a Masters of Arts in Counselor Education Counseling Psychology through Western Michigan University, and a graduate certificate in Holistic Health. I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor through the State of Michigan. I have extensive knowledge and experience in working with people who are experiencing life transitions, grief, along with challenges related to intergenerational relationships, caregiving, and aging in place. As a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, my counseling services are under the supervision of Karen A. Mueller, LPC, MI License # 6401008930, (231) 299-2149. I currently contract with Great Lakes Psychology Group (https://therapists.glpg.net/april-missias) for individuals seeking to utilize insurance benefits.
